Trailer suspension and brake assembly during an on-site repair by P&C Mobile Repair in Southwest FloridaA trailer out of service parks the tractor too.

The trailer is half the rig, and it takes most of the abuse

A trailer lives outside, gets backed into things, and carries every pound the tractor pulls. Lights corrode, air lines chafe, brakes wear out of adjustment, and landing gear takes the abuse of every drop. None of it is glamorous, and all of it will put a rig out of service at a scale house.

Most of it is also field repairable. A trailer with a dead light circuit or a leaking air line does not need a shop appointment, it needs somebody with the parts to show up where it is parked. P&C works trailers at the dock, in the yard, and on the shoulder, hooked or dropped.

One thing worth being straight about: refrigeration units are a separate trade and are not on the P&C service list. Everything else on the trailer is in scope, including the welding, which is done on site rather than sent out.

What this covers

01

Lights & wiring

Dead circuits, corroded grounds, chafed harnesses, and the seven-way plug that only works when you jiggle it.

02

Air lines & glad hands

Leaking lines, split airlines, failed glad hand seals, and the slow leak that drains the system overnight.

03

Brakes & drums

Shoes, drums, chambers, slack adjusters, and getting the brakes back into adjustment across all axles.

04

Suspension & airbags

Blown airbags, failed height control valves, broken leaf springs, and worn bushings.

05

Landing gear

Bent legs, stripped gearboxes, seized cranks, and the damage from a drop that did not go to plan.

06

Doors & structure

Hinges, latches, door frames, cross members, and structural welding done where the trailer sits.

No. Refrigeration units are their own trade and are not on the P&C service list. Everything else on the trailer, including the chassis, brakes, air, electrical, and welding, is in scope.
In most cases yes. Lights, air, brakes, and suspension work all happen with the trailer hooked. If something has to come apart, you hear that first.
Often. Lights, air leaks, and brake adjustment are the usual violations and all three are field repairs. Call with what the inspector wrote up.
Yes. Structural welding is done on site, with the welder on the truck. Cracked frames, broken cross members, mounts, and brackets.
Same work. Decks, ramps, winches, and the brake and suspension systems underneath them.
